Hard to get an exercise program started?
Get moving with a cup of tea and an early morning jog!
Stretching or yoga is too relaxing for first thing in the day: it doesn't get you moving and it doesn't get you out of the house.Here's what works and it's not too hard to do...
Get out of bed and have a cup of tea. While the kettle boils do an on-your-feet-exercise:
For old stiff ankles you can stand on the ball of one foot and place the fingers of the hands on the bench to help you balance. One minute on each ball of foot is enough to strengthen the calves and re-align the collagen fibres in the achilles tendons, and it will also help avoid a twisted ankle.
Make it a warm tea so you drink it quickly. Not so quickly that you get indigestion. Then go out and run (or jog, or walk, or any combination of the three) for 20-40 minutes. Nothing extreme - save faster and harder for later in the day if that's your style. (Kenyan runners do easy in the morning and faster in the afternoon, but that's off topic...)This sort of routine becomes an easy habit in an amazingly short time....
